Segun Odegbami, an ex-international, said on Sunday that the semi-final between Nigeria and Algeria at the ongoing African Cup of Nations(AFCON) would be tough. Odegbami made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun State. He noted that the Super Eagles needed to listen to their coach and technical crew as the match between them and the Desert Foxes of Algeria “would be hard.” “Our success when the Green Eagles played against Algeria in the final of the 1980 Nations Cup that we won by 3-0 should inspire the present Super Eagles to victory.” he said. Ajax have left captain Matthijs de Ligt out of their squad for a training camp in Austria as the player is “awaiting a possible transfer”. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel have condemned the killing of Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti by suspected herdsmen. Obasanjo and Daniel called for the arrest of the perpetrators of the act. Obasanjo in his condolence letter to Pa Fasoranti, which was made available to newsmen by his Special Assistant Media, Kehinde Akinyemi on Saturday, in Abeokuta, declared that the country has been diminished by the killing of Olakunrin. He described the killing by suspected Fulani herdsmen as a worrisome development in the polity. Obasanjo asked security agents to fish out those responsible for the heinous crime. Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned and distance itself from the killing of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. A statement issued by Mr Baba Ngelzarma, the National Secretary of the association on Saturday in Abuja, said MACBAN commiserated with Fasoranti on the death of his daughter. He said the deceased was reportedly shot on Friday along the Kajola-Ore road in Ondo State by those the police described as bandits. Ngelzarma said, “The association expresses our sincere heartfelt condolence to the family of the deceased.” He added that the association was shocked on how a section of the media in collaboration with elements in the country is using the opportunity to fuel crisis in Nigeria. Second Republic Minister and ex-Chairman of Northern Elder’s Forum, NEF, Paul Unongo, has said that power will remain in the North after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023. Eight persons were arrested weekend, over illegal sales of the naira notes, in Ikeja area of Lagos, with the recovery of N2.4 million ‘mint’. The suspects, four men and four women as gathered, were arrested during a raid of markets and party venues around Ikeja and its environs, last Friday and Saturday, by police operatives, those from sister security agencies and officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. The suspects are: Adetoro Adijat, 37; Mahmoud Ayoola, 42; Eze Madu, 27; Olorunfunmi Shakirat, 38; Akonji Julius, 40; Olalekan Kadri ,23; Akinsonya Abiodun, 34 and Adeniyi Yetunde, 30. American R&B singer, R.kelly has been according to American law officials based on sex trafficking charges. The embattled-powerful singer was picked up in Chicago in connection with 13 federal sex crime charges and according to the law officials, would be expected to be taken to court to answer to the charges against him. According to a US attorney spokesman, Joseph Fitzpatrick, the indictment against R.Kelly handed down in federal court for the northern district of Illinois also contained charges that revolve around child pornography and obstruction of justice. He said, “The counts include child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice.” However, the time and day of arraignment for R.kelly is yet unknown. 11 people have been arrested and detained in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale, in Cyprus The suspects appeared in court yesterday in Lefkosa. Turkish Cypriot police had raided an apartment building in Lefkosa, early Thursday morning, to make arrests. It was learned that the house was the last place Obasanjo, a student of the Cyprus International University, had gone before he was killed. According to preliminary findings by the police, Obasanjo was thrown down the third floor after he was killed. Black plastic gloves with stains resembling blood were found on the floor. It was gathered that the deceased was allegedly killed in a fight due to the issue of debt. A primary school teacher in Danbatta, Kano State, has been hospitalized after his wife scalded his groin region with hot water over his plans to marry a second wife. Lauratu committed the crime on Thursday night. A 40-year-old man, Audu Ado, of Gwarjo village in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl for a period of five months. United States President, Donald Trump, has approved the massive arrest of Nigerians and citizens of other countries who are illegally living in the country, beginning from Sunday, July 14, 2019. The raid will reportedly take place in at least 10 major cities of the U.S. The New York Times on Thursday quoted sources in the U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as saying the agency will begin a “nationwide raid and arrest of thousands of immigrant family members who are undocumented in the country.” The DHS officials told the newspaper that the raid will include collateral deportations. lady on social media (Instagram) has shared an incident she witnessed in a Muslim Community where a lady was beaten to stupor because she was indecently dressed. According to her story, the lady, who wore a t-shirt was considered half naked in the Muslim community and was beaten to stupor. People around who tried to rescue the lady were reportedly beaten.
